Mom's First Birthday in Heaven

Happy Birthday Mom I miss you

I love mom's face in this picture .

Her and Caitlin look so happy sure looks like they are having a good time.

Love mom's cheeks in this one. How special this picture is

Well today is your first Birthday in Heaven I wonder how it was. It was pretty hard here with out you Mom just not the same. Noah and I sang you happy birthday like we always did but we use to use the phone to do it. Then before I left for Church I played the last message I had of you on my answering machine. It made me feel like you were still here for a min. It felt so good to hear your voice again. Gave us a chuckel listeningto it.

Oh ,how I wish you were still here but you are not and I tried not to dwell on it. I heard so many times Mom say" I am all right with it Pat". I always said "yeah I know you are mom but

I'm not". So if I can keep it out of my mind I do ok. I wanted to do something special for her birthday but couldn't figure out what. So Jess, the girls ,Noah and I took flowers down the other day. The were very springy and I know she would have liked them. Then when we were getting ready to go Noah said what time is it he looked and said "Hey mom it is 3:33" I said ok mom thanks for letting us know you were with us. Will tell more on the time thing in another post.

Caitlin's birthday is the 3rd she was suppose to have been born on mom's birthday Jean's birthday is the 4th and Mom's the 5th. So I had them all over for one birthday.

Well at last Cortney Jean is here she was born Jan 27 th at 11:24. You would never know that Jess was having a baby she looks so good in this picture . Wish I looked that good having a baby.

I didn't even look half that good waiting for her to have the baby. hee hee So no pic of me.

Cortney weighed 7 and a half pounds and is 21 in long. She has some beautiful dark hair.Looks like it might be kind of curly.Think she looks like a Corbett baby?. I wonder if her looks will stay.

Here she is all fresh and new with the DR.

I so love this picture with her little lip sticking out. Doesn't look like she is loving it too much to be out. Hmm wonder how many times in her life we
will see this little lip stick out.

Well here she is with her Daddy. All nice and cozy.

A Special Book

Noah and Mom

These pictures were taken about a week or so before mom went to Heaven.

This book was my Grandmother Ethel's bird book. Gram would sit all day long and watch her birds.I remember not too many days before she died she was sitting there by the window watching birds. She wasn't able to see them very good anymore because at the age 100 your eye sight is not what it use to be. I can see her now sitting in the chair in the dinning room right by the window with the bird feeders on the railing of the porch. Seams like she had all kinds of food out there. I know we use to put out old bread doughnuts fruit just about anything. It worked because she always had beautiful birds all day long.

Well on to this book. Mom ended up with this book after Gram died. Noah use to go to mom's a lot and while he was there he would fill the feeder for her and sometimes they would watch the birds he would wonder what some of them were so she had him get out this book and look the birds up. She probably had him do that to keep him quiet for a while. Hee haa.

This summer quite a few times she told me that she wanted Noah to have the bird books that was Grams. She would say now Noah you know what ones I mean right. He would get this one and say this one right Grandma. She tried to get him a few times to take them home but it never felt right doing that.

So one day I was thinking I would love to have a few pictures with her and Noah with the bird book. I knew she would never be able to come back home from the nursing home and she was going down hill so we got the book and took it to her.

At this stage of her cancer Mom was getting quite confused and had a hard time figuring things out. We never knew if it was the cancer causing this or her UT infections. The infections sure do make elderly people go crazy. She didn't talk alot and most of the time you could not understand what she was trying to say. That had to be so hard for her trying to say something and no one understanding what it is. But there was some days you could understand her real good and most of the time it was to give you a good laugh with what she had to say. She kept her good sense of humor thru it all.

I wanted her to know what I was doing so I explained to her that I wanted to take a couple of pictures of her and Noah with the bird book. She took the book held it and said to me I really want HIM to have this. I said I know mom I just wanted to take a picture with you and him with the book. It was cute she was worried about him having the book
Her are the rest of the pictures

My Hug From God Jan 19,2009

Everything is going to be all right

This past week I been thinking about my mom. How she loved the birds. How one day this summer she got all excited she had a cardinal at her bird feeder. You mostly see them in the winter. She had to tell everyone that God sent her this bird. She felt it was from God saying that everything was going to be all right. Well she was right everything is all right it didn't turn out the way we wanted it to turn out. We wanted the cancer gone and her healed but it didn't go that way. But she knew in her heart that everything would be all right.

We got mom's bird feeder that we gave to her a few years back I thought Noah would love it because mom and him use to watch the birds all the time.We got it put up and food in it in Dec. Not sure if we would get birds everyone said we did it too late in the year.

Well ,I was feeling a little sad missing mom and stuff so I asked God for a hug from him and I needed to feel my mom. I needed to feel everything is still all right. So I asked him to bring me a Cardinal like he did mom .
I told Noah what I was praying for and I said wait and see how soon God will bring it. Noah said Dad saw one today I said Ron you saw a Cardinal ? He said yeah, hmm OK what color was it? He goes Blue. No, that is a blue jay that's why they call them blue jays because they are blue. Now why are not cardinals called red jays?

So Monday I was telling Betty about my prayer for the cardinal she said OK I will pray that for you too. A little later was telling my sister Gayle about wanting to see a cardinal. So as I sat by the window with Caitlin my granddaughter watching all the birds we had that we never had before . We were getting excited. One blue jay came then went next two blue jays then we had five blue jays . Wow couldn't believe it!
I said OK Lord ready for the Cardinal.
Then here comes this beautiful red bird then another then 2 females. Yeah the Cardinals were here there was four of them. We got so excited Noah had to get right on the phone and call my sister to let her know then we had to call Betty too.

That was my hug saying everything is going to be all right. It sure is awesome when we get them little hugs like that every now and then.
The Cardinals have not been back again but we are hoping they will.

New Life

Yesterday was a memory that I will always treasure. I was able to go with Mike ,Jess and Caitlin to see our new Granddaughter in the ultrasound.
I got to see something that I never saw in any of my ultrasounds because all mine were of boys. Sure glad that there still was girl parts.
My mom went to their first one They knew mom might not be here for the birth of the baby so they thought she would love to go with them and be a part of it. They wanted to give her something to look forward to something to give her joy for a while. I guess it worked some what but she just didn't seam as excited about it as we thought she might be.Mom was so sure it was a boy she so wanted a boy for Mike even up to about mom's last week of life she asked if it was still a girl if it changed yet. Too funny.
The baby has this perfectly round head and a tummy that is as big and round as her head. A true Corbett for sure. Can't wait to get her in my mitts. Looks like it will be the 27th of Jan. Not too far away. Her name is going to be Cortney Jean the Jean after my mom. Can't wait!
